"Tested Spyware Free" is that even possible?
Hello Experts:
I have noticed some download sites are making their freeware downloads as "tested spyware free". How is that even possible unless they have someone go line by line through the source code?
What if the spyware/malware function is a sleeper that activates based on a timer (i.e # of days after installed; calendar date, etc.)
I have some clients where IT dept or management is allowing certain junk freeware to be used inside the LAN based on this certification. Is this a false sense of security?
I would like to hear your comments and suggestions.Miguel Fra /

There is no certain way to find out if some software is malware free. There is no certain way to find out if some software is virus or not. But there is some certain way to get infected — playing around with downloaded freeware.
Under no circumstances I permit any on my client playing with downloaded junk, and strict Application Whitelisting helps me being sure computers are clean. "Tested spyware free" is either marketing b******t or definitely malware itself.MCITP: Enterprise Administrator; MCT; Microsoft Security Trusted Advisor; CCNA; CCSI
